Hermes Agent

Shanone’s Hermes Agent integration gives your agent 23 tools for controlling a self-hosted Hermes Agent server — sessions (agent conversations), jobs (scheduled/triggerable automations), and runs (individual executions), plus skill/capability discovery.

Getting Started

1

Deploy or locate your Hermes Agent server

Hermes Agent is a self-hosted server (see the NousResearch/hermes-agent project) — you’ll need its API URL (e.g. http://localhost:8642 or a public deployment URL).
2

Add it to Shanone

Open Integrations in the Shanone dashboard, select Hermes Agent, and enter the server’s API URL. An API Key is only required if the server has API_SERVER_KEY configured.
3

Retry your request

Once saved, shanone_execute_tool calls for hermes_* tools will succeed.

Available Tools

Shanone provides 23 tools for Hermes Agent, organized into these categories:
hermes_list_jobs, hermes_get_job, hermes_create_job, hermes_update_job, hermes_delete_job, hermes_pause_job, hermes_resume_job, hermes_trigger_job
hermes_create_run, hermes_get_run, hermes_stop_run, hermes_approve_run — a run is a single execution instance, which may require approval before proceeding
hermes_list_sessions, hermes_get_session, hermes_create_session, hermes_send_message, hermes_update_session, hermes_delete_session, hermes_fork_session
hermes_list_skills, hermes_list_toolsets, hermes_get_capabilities, hermes_health_check

Common Use Cases

Scheduled automation

Create a job that runs a Hermes workflow on a recurring basis

Human-in-the-loop runs

Trigger a run that requires approval, then approve or reject it based on its proposed action

Conversation branching

Fork a session to explore an alternate approach without losing the original conversation

Capability discovery

Check available skills and toolsets before designing a new job

Troubleshooting

Run hermes_health_check first — if the configured api_url is unreachable or wrong, every other call will fail the same way. Confirm the server is running and the URL doesn’t have a trailing path segment.
Check hermes_get_run — some runs pause waiting on hermes_approve_run; if the job is designed for human-in-the-loop approval, it will stay pending until approved or stopped.
Confirm the job isn’t paused — hermes_pause_job disables scheduled triggers until hermes_resume_job is called, and this state persists across server restarts.
