Shanone’s Alpaca integration gives your agent 44 tools for trading — account info, orders, positions, watchlists, and both stock and crypto market data.
Alpaca’s order and position tools can place real trades and move real money if you connect a live-trading API key. Confirm arguments carefully, and consider connecting Alpaca’s paper-trading keys while you build and test agent workflows.

Getting Started

Generate an API key pair

In the Alpaca dashboard, go to API Keys and generate a key ID and secret key — for paper trading, use the paper-trading keys instead of live keys.

Connect in Shanone

Ask your agent to do something with Alpaca (e.g. “show my open positions”), or add the key ID and secret key proactively from Integrations in the Shanone dashboard.

Retry your request

Once the keys are stored, shanone_execute_tool calls for alpaca_* tools will succeed.

Troubleshooting

Check alpaca_get_account for current buying power and confirm the account isn’t restricted (e.g. pattern day trading rules) before resizing the order.
Use alpaca_get_clock and alpaca_get_calendar to confirm the market is open — some snapshot/latest endpoints only reflect data from the most recent session.
Paper and live trading use separate API key pairs and separate account states. Confirm which key pair is connected under Integrations in the Shanone dashboard.
