# n8n

> Inspect and control n8n workflows and executions — activate, deactivate, retry, and manage tags/variables

# n8n

Shanone's n8n integration gives your agent 15 tools for managing workflows and their executions on your self-hosted or n8n Cloud instance.

## Getting Started

    In your n8n instance, go to **Settings > n8n API** and create an API key.

  <Step title="Add the key and base URL in Shanone">
    Go to **Integrations > n8n** in the Shanone dashboard and enter both the API key and your instance's base URL (e.g. `https://your-instance.app.n8n.cloud`).

  <Step title="Retry your request">
    Once saved, `shanone_execute_tool` calls for `n8n_*` tools will succeed.

## Available Tools

Shanone provides **15 tools** for n8n, organized into these categories:

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="n8n_retry_execution fails immediately">
    Only failed executions can be retried, and only if the workflow hasn't been modified since the original run — check `n8n_get_execution` first to confirm status.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Tools return a connection error">
    Confirm the base URL configured in Shanone points to your n8n instance's API root (not the editor UI URL), and that the instance is reachable from the internet if self-hosted.

  <Accordion title="n8n_delete_variable fails with a permission error">
    Variables scoped to a specific n8n project require a key with access to that project; check which project the variable belongs to via `n8n_list_variables`.
