# Gmail

Shanone's Gmail integration gives your agent 52 tools covering everyday messaging plus the mailbox-configuration tools (filters, forwarding, delegates, vacation responder) most integrations skip.

## Getting Started

    Ask your agent to do something with Gmail (e.g. "search my email for invoices from last month"), or connect proactively from **Integrations** in the Shanone dashboard.

    Approve Google's OAuth consent screen for the mailbox you want Shanone to act on.

    Once connected, `shanone_execute_tool` calls for `gmail_*` tools will succeed.

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="gmail_send_message fails with an invalid recipient error">
    Check the exact payload shape with `shanone_get_tool_schema` for `gmail_send_message` — recipients, subject, and body are typically nested under a MIME-style structure rather than flat fields.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="gmail_watch push notifications aren't arriving">
    `gmail_watch` requires a Google Cloud Pub/Sub topic configured on the connected Google Cloud project; this is a project-level setup step outside Shanone. Call `gmail_stop` and re-run `gmail_watch` after fixing the topic configuration.

    Use `gmail_search` with Gmail's own search operators (`from:`, `after:`, `has:attachment`, etc.) rather than `gmail_list_messages`, which doesn't support keyword filtering.
