# Brave

Shanone's Brave integration gives your agent 6 tools for Brave Search — web, news, image, and video search, autocomplete suggestions, and a combined web+news query, all backed by Brave's independent, privacy-focused index.

## Getting Started

    Sign up at [api.search.brave.com](https://api.search.brave.com/app/keys) and generate an API key.

  <Step title="Connect in Shanone">
    Ask your agent to search the web with Brave, or add the API key proactively from **Integrations** in the Shanone dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Retry your request">
    Once the key is stored, `shanone_execute_tool` calls for `brave_*` tools will succeed.

## Available Tools

Shanone provides **6 tools** for Brave:

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="Any brave_* call fails with an authentication error">
    The connected API key is missing, invalid, or expired. Check and re-enter it under **Integrations** in the Shanone dashboard.

  <Accordion title="brave_web_search returns a rate limit error">
    Brave's free plan is limited to 2,000 requests/month. Space out requests or upgrade the connected plan if you're hitting this regularly.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="freshness filter (pd/pw/pm/py) doesn't seem to narrow results">
    Freshness filters bias ranking toward recent content but don't strictly exclude older results for every query — combine with specific date terms in the query itself for stricter recency.
